Mature Age and Post-Graduate Accommodation

St Francis’ College administers cottage accommodation at Vianney College. Vianney College is situated 800 metres from the front gates of the main campus of Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga.

The cottages are fully equipped with dining/lounge rooms, kitchen and laundry. Each bedroom in the cottages is equipped with the following:

  • a single bed;
  • doona, doona cover, pillow and bed linen;
  • large study desk and chair;
  • ensuite with toilet, shower and vanity unit;
  • telephone;
  • air conditioner;
  • bookcase;
  • armchair;
  • wardrobe;
  • waste bin.

Attention has been given to noise reduction, creating a quieter environment for study than conventional student accommodation.
The cottage accommodation is available to postgraduate or mature-age male students.
This accommodation is available on a 40 week basis, and is fully self-catered.

Are the cottages single-sex or co-residential?
The cottage accommodation is for males only. There is, however, a room in one of the cottages which is very large and would suit a married couple. For more information about this please contact the Dean of St Francis’ College.

How much does it cost to live at the mature-age / postgraduate accommodation of St Francis’ College?
Cottage accommodation at St Francis is fully self-catered and offered on a 40 week basis. In 2005 the fees for a room in a cottage will be $5,600.

No. Cottage residents need to cater for themselves.

There is an application fee of $55 which must be paid in order for your application to be processed.

Are there any upfront payments if I get accepted?
Yes. If you get accepted into St Francis’ College, there is an acceptance fee, namely:

Bond (refundable)   $560
Caution Fund (refundable)   $40

What facilities are provided for me to prepare my own meals?
Each cottage has a kitchen for the use of residents. Each kitchen is equipped with a stove, microwave oven, and refrigerator.

What do I need to supply in order to prepare my own meals?
You will need to provide your own cutlery, crockery, cookware, cooking utensils, cups and glasses.

What else do I need to bring?
Apart from clothing, study equipment and personal items, you need to bring your own towels, and are advised to bring an extra blanket for the winter months.

How close are the cottages to the rest of the University?
The cottages are located 800 metres from the front gates of the main campus of Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. The cottages are therefore within walking distance from the lecture theatres, library and other university facilities.

Can I take part in official College functions?
While most College functions would be specific to undergraduate residents, mature-age/postgraduate residents are welcome to take part in some College functions. Involvement in College functions is usually optional.
